What this brand is._

CommScope is the global structured-cabling and infrastructure leader. Y5 uses CommScope Cat6A patch cords, fibre trunks, patch panels, racks, and cable-management hardware on every project where the physical layer matters — which is most of them. The brand is the de-facto choice when an RFP calls for 'tier-1 structured cabling' or when a customer's IT team wants a vendor with a 25-year channel and warranty story.

When the cables matter more than the boxes plugged into them, CommScope is non-negotiable. Y5 ships CommScope as the default structured-cabling layer on enterprise rollouts.

How we spec it._

Systimax GigaSPEED X10D supports 10GBASE-T to 100 m on Cat6A — overspec for most BoQs but the warranty premium is worth it on infrastructure expected to last 15+ years. For SMB / mid-market where 25-year warranty isn't decisive, Uniprise UNC1500 (Cat6) is the cost-effective alternative under the same brand umbrella. Backbone fibre should default to TeraSPEED OS2 single-mode — multi-mode is a false economy beyond 300 m runs. Always pair active CommScope orders with the Imvision Manager for documented fibre topology and as-built maps.

History

How they got here._

CommScope traces its roots to 1976 as a coaxial cable manufacturer and grew through acquisitions to become the global structured-cabling and infrastructure leader. The 2019 acquisition of ARRIS expanded the portfolio into broadband and DOCSIS solutions; the Systimax brand (acquired earlier from Avaya / Lucent / Bell Labs heritage) remains the flagship for enterprise cabling. India operations supply both passive infrastructure and active network gear, with deep penetration in BFSI, telecom, and government tender markets. Y5 became a Cabling Solutions Partner in 2020 to standardise on a tier-1 structured-cabling vendor across enterprise rollouts.
