D-Link

Switching, IP surveillance, and wireless from a long-time India presence.

Y5 distribution since 2018

Overview

What this brand is._

D-Link has been a fixture of the Indian networking market for over two decades. Y5's founder Kunal Raul previously led D-Link India's Pan-India marketing, which translates to deep familiarity with the product lines, RMA workflows, and pricing tiers. Y5 carries D-Link business switches, wireless gear, and IP surveillance — particularly common in cost-sensitive SMB rollouts and where the customer has historical preference for the brand.

Decades of India distribution presence, robust SMB switching, and Kunal's first-hand product knowledge mean Y5 can specify D-Link confidently across most networking categories.

Y5 position

Why we stock them._

Two driver scenarios for D-Link on Y5 BoQs: cost-sensitive SMB rollouts where the brand's pricing meets the customer's budget, and existing D-Link install-base refreshes where the customer's IT team already knows the GUI, RMA process, and SKU naming. Kunal's first-hand product knowledge means Y5 can specify D-Link confidently across switching, wireless, and surveillance without surprises. The Industry Partner relationship since 2018 gives Y5 deep pricing access and faster RMA cycles than typical resellers.

Engineering notes

How we spec it._

DGS-1210 series is the workhorse for SMB smart-managed switching — buy the PoE variant unless the project has zero powered devices. For routing, the DSR series covers branch / SMB VPN gateways. Nuclias Cloud-managed APs (DBA-2520 series) compete with Omada and Aruba Instant On in pricing — the platform is less mature than Omada's but improving rapidly. DCS IP cameras integrate via ONVIF with third-party NVRs; D-Link's own NVRs are reliable but the recording UI is dated.

History

How they got here._

D-Link was founded in 1986 in Taipei as one of the earliest networking-hardware vendors targeting SMB and consumer markets. The brand reached India in the late 1990s and built a dominant SMB presence through the 2000s — at one point D-Link was the most-deployed networking brand in Indian retail and small offices. Subsequent decades saw consolidation in the segment, with D-Link maintaining its identity around switching, IP surveillance, and wireless. Y5 founder Kunal Raul led D-Link India's Pan-India marketing during a formative period of the brand's enterprise pivot, giving Y5 institutional knowledge of the catalogue, pricing tiers, and RMA workflows that's hard to replicate at any other reseller.
