Overview
What this brand is._
Lexar is a long-running flash-storage brand (now under Longsys) specialising in memory cards, USB drives, and recently-expanded SSD lines. The brand competes with SanDisk on price-per-GB across nearly the same SKU lineup. Y5 stocks Lexar when the customer's BoQ has dozens of cards or sticks to fulfill — bulk camera deployments, USB backup distribution, hot-swap card spares — and the price-per-unit savings versus SanDisk add up.
Cleaner pricing per gigabyte than SanDisk on bulk SD and USB orders. Useful when the project ships 50+ cards or drives and the savings actually move the BoQ total.

Y5 position
Why we stock them._
Lexar is Y5's price-arbitrage option against SanDisk for bulk memory-card and USB orders. On a 100-camera deployment, the choice between SanDisk MAX Endurance 256 GB and Lexar High Endurance 256 GB can shift the BoQ by ~₹15,000-25,000 — meaningful on large rollouts. We default to SanDisk for hero specs (anything Y5 puts a warranty on) and offer Lexar as the bulk-budget option. The NM710 NVMe SSD is also useful as a budget workstation upgrade where Samsung 990 PRO is over-spec.

Engineering notes
How we spec it._
For surveillance edge recording: Lexar High Endurance 64-256 GB (NOT regular Lexar) — endurance-rated for ~5,000 hours of continuous writes. UHS-I; UHS-II Professional cards are unnecessary for camera SD storage. NM710 NVMe SSD covers budget workstation refreshes — paired with WD Blue or Samsung 870 EVO on the SATA side. JumpDrive M45 USB drives are fine for staff distribution; for executives prefer SanDisk or Samsung. RMA in India runs through Lexar's distributor channel — 2-3 week turnaround.

History
How they got here._
Lexar was founded in 1996 in Fremont, California — one of the original flash-storage pioneers alongside SanDisk. The brand was acquired by Micron in 2006, then sold to Longsys (a Chinese flash-storage company) in 2017, which has revived and expanded the line. Lexar now ships memory cards, USB drives, NVMe SSDs, and portable SSDs under broadly the same workload categories as SanDisk. The brand competes head-to-head with SanDisk on price per gigabyte across the bulk segments — SD cards, USB drives, portable SSDs — where customers ship 50+ units at a time and small price differences add up.
