Overview
What this brand is._
Tenda is one of the largest networking brands by unit shipment in Asia, with a portfolio centred on affordable mesh systems, home and SMB routers, and indoor access points. Y5 stocks Tenda for price-sensitive deployments — small offices, retail counters, residential projects — where the customer needs reliable WiFi without enterprise-tier pricing.
Aggressive pricing without obvious corner-cutting. Tenda fills the sub-Omada slot where the project budget can't stretch but TP-Link is still over-spec.

Y5 position
Why we stock them._
Y5 specifies Tenda where the project budget genuinely cannot stretch to TP-Link, and the customer's stakes are low — residential, retail counters, small storefront WiFi, student housing where a 3-year refresh cycle is expected. The brand wins on pricing per unit, and Y5's pre-deployment QA catches the small percentage of units with manufacturing defects before they ship to customer sites. We don't push Tenda when Omada or even basic TP-Link SMB gear is in budget — the trade-off in firmware polish is real.

What sets them apart
Key differentiators._
- Aggressive pricing — Nova MW6 three-pack costs roughly half of comparable Deco / Eero
- Pan-India retail availability through both online and offline channels
- Three-year warranty on most home routers — competitive with TP-Link and D-Link
- Tenda WiFi app handles mesh setup and per-device controls cleanly
- i22 ceiling AP brings PoE-powered SMB Wi-Fi to projects under ₹3,000 per AP

Engineering notes
How we spec it._
Nova MW6 (Wi-Fi 5 tri-band mesh) covers ~3,500-4,500 sq ft per three-pack in typical Indian residential walls. For Wi-Fi 6 step up to RX27 Pro or Nova MX12. i22 indoor ceiling AP delivers ~1200 Mbps per cell — acceptable for retail counter density (10-15 devices). Avoid Tenda for any project requiring VLAN, RADIUS, or captive portal — the SMB switches lack the management surface. S108 unmanaged switch is fine for SOHO; for anything managed, jump to TP-Link smart-managed (TL-SG108E equivalent) or higher.

History
How they got here._
Tenda was founded in 1999 in Shenzhen and has grown into one of the largest networking brands by unit shipment in Asia, with particularly strong penetration in India's price-sensitive residential and SMB segments. The portfolio centres on home and small-office mesh systems (Nova MW series), routers (AC and AX lines), unmanaged switches, and ceiling-mount APs for budget commercial installs. Tenda's India operations have grown steadily since the mid-2010s and the brand now claims significant share in entry-tier home networking through online retail and offline distribution.
