HPE Aruba Networking delivers enterprise-grade WiFi, switching, and SD-WAN backed by Aruba Central, one of the most mature cloud-management consoles on the market. The Instant On line targets SMB at TP-Link-like price points; the CX switching and 600-series APs target large campuses. Y5 deploys Aruba where customers need centralised cloud management at scale, ClearPass-grade policy control, or vendor-backed performance guarantees that the SMB-tier brands don't offer.

Aruba sits in a specific slot for Y5: customers whose IT teams are small but whose deployments aren't. Aruba Central lets a 3-person IT shop run a 200-AP multi-property hotel chain without daily babysitting — the platform handles RF tuning, firmware staging, and config drift automatically. The Instant On line covers SMB price points cleanly, and the 530/630-series APs scale up to genuine campus density. The Authorised Reseller relationship gives Y5 deal registration and access to the Aruba SE community for design reviews on larger projects.

Engineering notes

How we spec it._

Instant On AP22 / AP25 cover most SMB needs; step up to the 510 series for Wi-Fi 6 high-density (auditoriums, ballrooms, exam halls). The CX 6100 stackable access switch is the right answer for 24-48 port closets with cloud management; CX 8100 for distribution layers. Aruba Central is subscription-based — model 3 or 5-year terms into TCO. AirMatch needs ~72 hours of post-deployment learning before RF optimisation stabilises; don't tune manually during this window. SD-WAN via EdgeConnect requires separate Orchestrator licensing.

History

How they got here._

Aruba Networks was founded in 2002 as a controller-based enterprise Wi-Fi vendor and was acquired by HP in 2015 (now operating as HPE Aruba Networking). The acquisition combined Aruba's wireless heritage with HP's switching portfolio to create a head-to-head competitor to Cisco in the enterprise campus segment. Aruba Central, the cloud-management plane, has matured through ~10 years of iteration and now spans Wi-Fi, switching, SD-WAN, and security. India operations are anchored in Bangalore with engineering and support. Y5 became an Authorised Reseller in 2023 to serve customers who want Aruba's polish without Cisco's price.
